It is impossible to travel around all famous places in Cyprus in one day. But it is also a pity to miss something interesting. How to proceed?

This is the question I asked to create the «Perfect Tour». It has everything for the first impression of Cyprus, which, as you know, is the most important.

The topics of this excursion are very different, and the route is unique: short journeys, and there are many sightseeing spots (and more time for them). This means: less road — more experience!

What awaits you
and in which places you will visit

The historic center of Larnaca and the Church of St. Lazarus

After his miraculous resurrection by Jesus Christ, Lazarus moved to Cyprus and lived here for another 30 years, becoming Bishop of Kitia (or otherwise — Larnaca).

The old church in the center of old Larnaca — the Church of St. Lazarus — was erected at the end of the 9th century on the burial place of Lazarus. The relics of the saint are still kept here, and from the temple hall you can go down to the tomb of St. Lazarus.

Соленые озера и фламинго
Larnaca salt lakes

Thousands of migratory birds flock here in winter, and the most amazing of them are pink flamingos. In the summer, the lakes dry up and are covered with a thick salt crust. From the 15th to the 20th centuries, starting with the Venetian rule, salt was mined here and sent to Europe for sale.

Хала Султан текке (мечеть в Ларнаке)
Hala Sultan Tekke

The Hala Sultan Tekke Mosque is one of the most revered shrines in the Muslim world after Mecca, Medina and the Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. It was erected on the burial site of Umm Haram, the aunt of the Prophet Muhammad (according to various versions, Umm Haram could be the wife of a friend of Muhammad or his disciple).

Lefkara

Lefkara is often rewarded with the epithets «the most famous» or «the most beautiful.» It will also become the most interesting for you — the guide will lead you through a maze of secret streets full of stories. You will see the fabulous architecture of the past and the craftswomen-embroiderers, as in the old days, sitting with their painstaking work right on the street in front of their houses.

You will find out what connects this village with Venice and discover the secrets of the local craft Lefkaritika, known for many centuries, and now placed under the protection of UNESCO.

Path through the Troodos mountains

The mountainous part of Cyprus is completely different from its coast. Relic giant pines, cedar groves, mountain rivers and waterfalls are the decoration of the island. Staying at the panoramic viewing platforms in the mountains, you can completely dissolve in the untouched mountain forests, breathe in the clean air saturated with the aroma of pine trees and mountain flowers.

Монастырь Махерас (Троодос, Кипр)
Sacred Macheras Monastery

One of the most revered monasteries in Cyprus. The second of the three largest mountain monasteries on the island. It was founded at the end of the 12th century on the site of the miraculous discovery of the icon of the Mother of God Macheras, which, following several hypotheses, belongs to the authorship of the Evangelist Luke.

Famous tavern "Maria's"

In the quiet mountain village of Vavatsinya, our stop is foreseen for lunch accompanied by the rustle and aroma of mountain pines. The locals know this family-run tavern well and value it for its fine and generous cuisine. Even from distant cities, Cypriots come here to enjoy the dishes of local recipes.

Church of the Holy Cross

This unusual church contains a piece of the True Cross, brought to the island by Saint Helena in 327. The cover of this part of the cross is open and accessible to everyone. And the silver setting of a particle of the cross, depicting scenes from the life of Christ, is a famous masterpiece made by Lefkarian minters.

Family cheese dairy. Goat and sheep farm

This is my favorite farm. I have known the family to which she belongs for a long time. The owners of the farm raise sheep, goats and produce the island’s most delicious Halloumi and Anari cheeses. You will get to know the cheese makers themselves and see how cheese is made. And, of course, you will taste the taste of real cheese!

By the way, cheese production is one of the strongest and most recognized branches of agriculture in Cyprus in Europe. So, for example, only cheese produced in Cyprus can bear the name Halloumi.

Countryside family winery

The family winery in the foothills of Troodos, surrounded by vineyards, slowly and measuredly creates masterpieces of local winemaking: from young seasonal wines to the legendary wine of Cyprus — Commandaria, known since the early Middle Ages (as evidenced by the London wine competition «Feast of the Five Kings», held in 1362 year).

Оливковый сад (Кипр)
Olive farm

Over the centuries, a huge olive garden has become the bearer of the history of Cyprus. Local olives “remember” both the events of the Crusades and tens of generations of their numerous owners.
It produces rare «green» olive oil, which you can taste directly from the tanks. We will also treat you to a real exotic — olive jam and sherbet.

Reviews:

The excursion is wonderful. Very interesting and informative. Great guide Galina: deep knowledge of Cyprus (history, religion, culture), very competent speech. An excellent car driver, which is important on mountain roads. We got an idea about the island, its nature, history and life of the Cypriots, as a sightseeing tour. Recomend for everybody!!!

Vera

The individual excursion was from Limassol. Guide — Arthur. Everything was very well organized. A very professional guide — he knows a lot and knows a lot about the area. We saw and learned a lot of interesting things about Cyprus and its mountainous part. We did some lovely walks — the views were great. Thanks!!!
